Glasses can be a really great way to make a bold fashion statement. The trick with this cool accessory is finding the right ones that sharpen your face.
Ideally, glasses wearers would love to own several pairs in different flattering shapes and styles, but the reality is glasses are expensive. More often than not, you’re probably limited to about two pairs at a time, so you want to make sure you’re getting the ones that are most flattering for your mug.
Generally speaking, you want your frames to be in proportion with the rest of your face. This rule doesn’t apply when you’re shopping for sunglasses, as they tend to be a little bit larger for greater coverage, so what looks good as sunglasses will not necessarily look good in optical. Your frames should fit right on the outside of your cheekbones.
There’s no secret here. Choose a colour that best complements your features. Glassesthat contrast the tone of your face and hair will stand out more, but it’s up to you how much of a statement you want your glasses to make. Your skin tone will be a guiding factor in determining the frame that’s best for you.
For a warmer skin tone: A warmer skin tone has a golden cast to the skin. For frames, stay away from contrasting colours like pastels, as well as a black or white frame, which may not be that flattering. Opt instead for frames in a light tortoise, gold or honey, olive green, beige, and any other shade of brown.
4. Face shape
This is where it gets a little more complicated. While not definitive, this should give you a good idea of what frames you should consider. As everyone’s face shape differs, you must head to the store yourself and try on different pairs to see what looks best. While oval shaped faces suits almost every frame, round faces should opt for rectangular frames and square faces with angular frames with round lenses.
5. Your personality
Above all else, the frames you wear will ultimately showcase your personality. If you’re a bolder, more serious person, then a pair of thicker or bold frames might get that message across. Then again, you may choose to have two pairs of glasses: one that you wear during the workweek when you’re trying to come across as a more serious, and one you may save for the weekend to show off your fun and relaxing side.
