Dhokla

Ingredients

  • Semolina 1 cup
  • Water 1 cup
  • Yogurt ½ cup
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Fruit Salt 2 tsp
  • Gram Flour 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric ½ tsp
  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • To temper:
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Curry Leaves few
  • Green Chilies 3-4
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Topping:
  • Water ¼ cup
  • Sugar ¼ tsp
  • Salt ¼ tsp
  • Lemon Juice ½
  • Coriander Leaves as required
  • Desiccated Coconut 2 tbsp

Cooking Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients except Eno together into a smooth paste set aside for a while.
  2. Just before steaming add Eno.
  3. Immediately pour into greased tray or thali and steam for 10 min on high flame or until done.
  4. Heat oil and give a tadka of mustard seeds, curry leaves and green chillies.
  5. In a pan mix water, sugar, salt and a good squeeze of lemon.
  6. Heat through.
  7. Then pour this water on the steamed dhokla let it rest for 20 minutes.
  8. Cut into square pieces, sprinkle with chopped coriander, dessicated coconut and serve.
