Pakistani actress Hania Amir has taken down the controversial Snapchat video in which she recorded a man without his consent, after a furore erupted on social media following her antic.
Harassment nowadays is a topic that is in discussion ever since the infamous Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy controversy came to the fore.
Speaking exclusively to the Express Tribune, Hania said that she did not intend to offend anyone.
“First of all, I’d like to apologise to everyone who got offended by the video I posted. That was not my intention at all,” she said. “I would like to add that I took the snap down when I saw it again myself, as I found it extremely weird. It came out in the wrong manner.”
Hania clarified that she had not used her star power or influence to harass the person, who was not aware that he was being filmed by the actress.
“Honestly, I don’t even consider myself a star. But I do understand where people are coming from,” she said. “My intention was never to harass a man, since I do know how it feels to be judged on how I wear my hair, what shoes I wear.”
Hania Amir further clarified that it was not her intention to harass the person and as soon as she had uploaded the snap, she deleted it. She stated that the video was made in fun just like most of her videos.
“I’m known for making funny vines and videos and that was what the video was about. I wasn’t harassing anyone,” she said. “However, I would still like to apologise to everyone about it.”
