We have seen this problem before with the iPad and now we are facing it again in Apple iPhone 4. The device gives a thermal warning status, which is basically a feature of this device to show such warning if the processor gets overheated. But in this case things a quite different.

The device is supposed to give thermal warning only if the processor heats up. For example while making a long video with the device etc. HardMac reported this as a phone bug because they sais that it was just placed on a table with a reasonable temperature not exceeding 25°C. They also said that the device was not in use or being charged for least an hour when this message appeared.

You need to restart to make it works properly without any message, although you can still receive calls during this.

Apple iPhone 4 can work properly on a temperature between 32F to 95F (0C to 35C) according to Apple before it gives you any thermal warning.
