The last few minutes of the extra time were match deciding for the whole world, when Spain scored the one and only goal in this grand final. Spain who had reached the finals in pride maintained their raised heads when they faced the Netherlands in the finals.

Spain played better and won. It was anybody’s game but Spain’s goal was the match decider.

Basically the match was owned by both goal keepers who saved excellent attempts but the one which decided fate of the match touched the arm of the goal keeper and kissed the nets.

It was match of yellow cards – it broke all the records. Referee was seen as temperamental and the aggression of the players was well crafted by the excellent management by the running single man.

At the end the team that was seen as favourite after the departure of Brazil, Argentina, France and Italy – lifted the trophy.
