Ford Mondeo facelift

ford-mondeo-faceliftFord has released exterior pictures showing off the forthcoming Mondeo’s new front grille with extra chrome, different front bumpers incorporating LED daytime running lights and a revamped rear end, with redesigned tail-light design.

A veil is still drawn over the new-look cabin for which there are no photographs but it will include a new centre console, ambient lighting, a central overhead console and revised door handles.

Ford says that new materials will enhance the “premium” feel of the Mondeo. Other changes will include a new sat-nav system and a “Premium Sound System” incorporating a 265-watt, eight-channel amplifier unit with 1.7-litre subwoofer.

The new engines are a 197bhp 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel and a new 236bhp EcoBoost turbocharged petrol.

“This is the smartest, safest, most environmentally friendly and best quality Mondeo we have ever launched,” said John Fleming, Ford of Europe chairman and CEO.

Technology on the new Mondeo will include an Active Grille Shutter system, an electronic device which regulates airflow through the radiator and engine compartment to reduce aerodynamic drag. The latest Powershift double wet-clutch transmission system comes as standard with the EcoBoost petrol engines, and will be available as an option for the 138bhp and 161bhp versions of the 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi.

Driver aids for the Mondeo, that are appearing for the first time on a Ford, include Lane Departure Warning, Driver Alert and Auto High Beam. Features already on the latest S-MAX that will be carried over to the Mondeo include Blind Spot Information System, Speed Limiter, Rear Door Power Child Locks and Rear View Camera.
