KARACHI: Twenty-four people were arrested during an anti-encroachment drive in Karachi on Saturday.

The operation was launched in the city’s Bin Qasim area where authorities cracked down on land grabbers. Six people, including two policemen were injured in firing during the operation.

The operation was launched on Saturday morning by the Sindh government, city government and police.

Police faced a lot of resistance by protestors who resorted to firing, shelling and pelting stones at the officials during the operation.

The 24 men were arrested for grabbing official land and disturbing peace in the area.
