KARACHI – President Asif Zardari while taking notice of the target killings in Karachi, has summoned a high-level meeting today (Friday) and the Home Department has been directed to prepare a report in 24 hours on the reasons behind the target killings.

As per details, the President has taken strong exception to the unabated target killings in Karachi which have claimed about 21 lives including the workers of different political parties, over the past three days.
The President has sought a detailed report from the Sindh Home Department in 24 hours. The sources said that in this regard the President has also summoned a high-level meeting today to contemplate the overall security situation in Sindh and ways to counter the target killings.
The meeting would be attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, IG Sindh Sultan Salahuddin Babar Khatak, CCPO Karachi Waseem Ahmed, DG Rangers and other senior officials. The sources said that Interior Minister Rehman Malik would also attend the meeting.
President Zardari would be briefed on the reasons behind the target killings and the over all law and order situation in Sindh. On the other hand, the President has directed the Sindh government and the provincial home ministry not to allow any one to disrupt the law and order situation in Karachi. President Zardari also directed a stern action against elements involved in the target killings and disrupting peace in the city. He also ordered speedy action against the land mafia. The President said that measures should be taken to control target killings by taking the coalition partners into confidence.
