SC orders ISI to submit sworn certificate of Akash Mallah case
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Karachi registry ordered the ISI to hand in the sworn certificate of Akash Mallah case to the court, said sources Friday.
Akash Mallah was the Vice Chairman of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz. Him and his and aide Noor Muhammad Khaskheli disappeared when they left for offering Friday prayer in Gulistan-e-Sajjah, Hyderabad on October 31, 2009. His brother Anwar Mallah alleges that plainclothed law enforcement agencies personnel detained his brother and friend for many months. The Hyderabad RPO and DPO denied that the two men had been arrested.
According to the petition filed in the Supreme Court, the Sukkur resident Akash Mallah is allegedly in the custody of the ISI. The petitioner appealed to the court that Mallah should be released who was taken into custody by Inspector Shah Jahan.
The stance of the ISI officials was that no official with the name of Shah Jahan works in their organization. Upon this, the court asked the ISI officials to submit their sworn certificates to the court.
