KARACHI: The deadlines given by Higher Education Commission (HEC) is going to end today (Tuesday) but the universities failed to verify degrees within time.

Sources said that the verification committee could not meet the deadline given by HEC, creating anxiety within educational circles.

According to HEC, almost 46 degrees have been declared fake while 224 were verified till now. Most of the universities have sent the reply of the 516 degrees sent by HEC for re-verification.

The foreign universities also asked for almost two months time for the verification of degrees.

The HEC directed the universities to complete the verification at the earliest.
