Water outflow decreases in Ataabad Lake
HUNZA: The water outflow from Ataabad Lake spillway has decreased to 900 cusecs while its level has also lowered by 2 inches, said sources Friday.
Due to bad weather, there has been a rapid decrease in water inflow. The water outflow was recorded at 16,500 cusecs in the last two days, however according to latest reports the outflow was at 15,427 cusecs today.
The water level of the lake decreased to 2 inches during the last 12 hours, while the reduction of water level during 24 to 48 hours was recorded at 16 inches.
The water level and its inflow dropped down as the melting of glaciers halted due to bad weather.
The boat service in upper Hunza continued for the shifting of passengers and relief activities.
The meeting of Chief of Forces Commander Gilgit-Baltistan and the IDPs committee of Shishkit and Gilmit is expected today.
The meeting will review the widening of Attabad Lake spillway.
